Caregiver Hiring Practices General Overview |
1. The
Application Process - The
hiring/screening of applicants for employment includes the
following:
●
Applicants must
be lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
●
In order to
work as a Caregiver providing care to Family Home Care’s
clients, an
applicant must have verifiable references and experience
providing hands-on care.
●
All prior work
related references are verified prior to any applicant
becoming a
candidate for hire.
●
Caregiver
applicants are interviewed in person and screened to
determine their
experience,
skill level and how compassionate they are.
●
As part of the
application process, applicants must complete and sign a
disclosure form
disclosing any
prior criminal convictions or licensing board’s action
against them.
●
A criminal
background check is conducted on an applicant, prior to him
or her becoming
a candidate for
hire.
2. The
Hiring Process
- The hiring process of
new Caregiver employees and integrating
them into
the Family Home Care work force includes the following:
●
All new hires
are required to have current CPR, first aide, and TB tests.
If a new hire
does not have
these current, there is a 30 day grace period where they are
required to
bring these
current.
●
All new
hires are fingerprinted and those fingerprints are processed
through the
appropriate law
enforcement agency.
●
All new hires
must furnish a Motor Vehicle Department report of their past
driving record
to ensure they
have a clean driving record.
●
All new hires
go through an extensive orientation process. This process
covers issues and
training
concerning HIPPA requirements, safety and emergency issues,
workers
compensation,
Elder Abuse, our zero tolerance on harassment in the work
place, dress
code, standards
of service, documentation standards, and a variety of other
important
issues that
pertain to the manner in which the company wants its
employees to conduct
themselves and
represent the company.
●
New hires
are given their own sets of scrubs, furnished by the
company, that we would
like them
to wear while on duty with Family Home Care.
●
When any new
hire goes to a work assignment for the first time on any
case, one of
the
Care Managers
accompanies that new hire to the case and introduces them to
the client.
In addition, the
new hire receives any specific training that might be
necessary for that
particular
case.
